Library Management
As with all other independent library districts in Ada County and throughout Idaho, the Ada County Free Library District is governed by a five-member Board of Trustees, elected or appointed to four-year terms pursuant to Idaho Code. The Ada County Free Library District is not governed by any city council nor the Board of County Commissioners. It is completely independent. Obligated to follow provisions of law found in the Idaho Code, the Board of Trustees establishes policies and protocols for the operation and management of all its branch libraries. Library staff implement those policies and protocols in their operations of the library.
The Board of Trustees holds a monthly Board Meeting. It is open to the public and any library patron is welcome to attend, either in person or via Zoom. At that monthly meeting, the trustees review ongoing library operations at each branch, counsel together in the process of adopting and/or implementing new or revised library policies, examine the use of library resources, approve expenditures, provide guidance to library management, discuss and approve the annual budget, and deal with any other library business pertinent to the duties of trustees.
